Musk’s Mail To Federal Workers Is ‘Somewhat Voluntary’ But No Answer & You Get Fired: Donald Trump
President Donald Trump did little to clear up the massive confusion surrounding the email sent to federal employees, asking them to respond with “5 bullets" about what they accomplished.
The Office of Personnel Management told agency leaders Monday that their employees did not have to comply with a Musk-inspired edict for workers to report their recent accomplishments or risk getting fired.
But later that evening, OPM sent out another memo suggesting that workers might be sanctioned for noncompliance.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office Tuesday, Trump said the email demand was "somehwat voluntary," but added that federal employees who don’t respond, may "get fired."
"Well, it’s somewhat voluntary, but it’s also if you don’t answer, I guess you get fired," Trump said.
