Violence in West Bengal’s Murshidabad has resulted in three deaths and injuries to 18 policemen. An angry mob vandalized shops and homes, leading to 150 arrests. The Calcutta High Court has ordered the deployment of central forces in the affected areas. Internet services have been suspended and prohibitory orders enforced in sensitive zones. 23 senior police officers, including 10 DSPs, have been deployed for four days to maintain order.
