Mumbai Monorail Rescue: Passengers Trapped For Hours Amidst Heavy Rain & Power Outage | India Today

A monorail became stranded in Mumbai’s eastern suburban area due to a technical snag following heavy rainfall. Passengers were trapped inside for several hours, with eyewitnesses reporting a lack of oxygen and feeling very cramped and suffocated inside. Fire brigade personnel initiated rescue operations, utilizing a forklift to evacuate individuals. The incident was compounded by a power outage, which caused the monorail to halt around 6 PM. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed that multiple agencies, including MMRDA, fire brigade, and municipal corporation, were on site, prioritizing passenger safety. An inquiry into the incident will also be conducted. The monorail service from Chembur was shut down, impacting many passengers. #mumbaimonorailrescue #technicalsnag #heavyrain #itwebvideos #passengersafety #firebrigade #poweroutage #trapped #emergency #maharashtra #indiatoday #transport #urbantransport #mumbairains
