Mumbai Monorail Horror: Hundreds Trapped For Hours, Dramatic Rescue Underway | India Today

A technical snag left a monorail stranded between Chembur and Bhakti Park in Mumbai amidst heavy rainfall, trapping hundreds of passengers for several hours. The incident, which occurred due to a power outage, resulted in no air conditioning, leading to complaints of suffocation and oxygen deprivation inside the coaches. Eyewitnesses and rescued passengers highlighted the lack of information on emergency procedures, with one stating, “we had absolutely no idea what needs to be done in an emergency.” The Mumbai Fire Brigade launched a large-scale rescue operation using sky lifts to evacuate people from the elevated track. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the safety of all passengers is the highest priority and announced that an inquiry will be conducted into the incident to determine its cause.
