Mumbai Blasts '06: 12 Acquitted After 19 Yrs; HC Slams 'Faulty Probe' | India Today

Nearly two decades after the 2006 Mumbai train bombings, the Bombay High Court has acquitted all 12 individuals who were convicted, stating the prosecution "utterly failed to prove their guilt." The serial blasts on July 11, 2006, claimed over 180 lives. A special bench found the evidence unreliable, quashing the 2015 trial court verdict that had sentenced five to death and seven to life imprisonment. One of the acquitted, Ansari, claims he was framed by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) because of his technical knowledge. He stated, "his life is lost due to fake charges that were put on him." The court noted that confessions appeared to be obtained through torture and that the investigating agency failed to prove its case, ordering the immediate release of the men. #mumbaitrainblasts #bombayhighcourt #acquittal #itwebvideos #justicedelayed #indiatoday #mumbaiblasts #wrongfulconviction #ats #terrorcase #indianlaw #breakingnews #mumbai #justice #711blasts
