Astronomers have discovered the most massive black hole binary ever found, weighing a staggering 28 billion times more than the sun. Located in the fossil galaxy B2 0402+379, these two supermassive black holes are just 24 light-years apart but have been locked in orbit for over 3 billion years. Scientists believe their enormous mass is preventing them from merging. Observed using the Gemini North telescope, this discovery gives new insight into galaxy evolution and the mysterious behavior of black holes.
