An 8.8 magnitude earthquake has struck off the eastern coast of Russia, triggering widespread tsunami warnings across the Pacific Ocean. The regions on high alert include Japan, the Philippines, Hawaii, and Alaska in the United States. The epicentre was located in the Kamchatsky region of Russia, which has since experienced significant seismic activity with over 18 earthquakes of magnitude five or higher in a short period. Russian media reports that three tsunami waves have already hit its Far East coast, causing some damage to ships. A speaker noted the unprecedented nature of the event in a densely populated era, stating, "we have never seen on this planet, this intensive earthquake with so much of population". Advisories have been issued for residents in low-lying coastal areas to remain watchful, with the Indian consulate in San Francisco also alerting the Indian community.
