Iran has confirmed Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as the new Supreme Leader following his father’s death. This marks the first hereditary transfer of Iran’s supreme leadership. Mojtaba, a hardliner with deep ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, lost his father, mother, wife, and daughter in recent strikes. Israel has warned that Iran’s next ruler will also be targeted. Meanwhile, the Indian government has clarified there is no immediate likelihood of a hike in petrol and diesel prices, despite rising global crude oil tensions. Government sources state that India is comfortable with current fuel reserves and has pivoted to alternate supply sources. The West Asia conflict has entered its tenth day, with casualties exceeding 1,230 in Iran and 397 in Lebanon. An IndiGo London-Mumbai flight was diverted to Cairo and stranded for over 12 hours due to airspace restrictions.
