The poll body issued notices from Kartju Nagar School in Jadavpur, South Kolkata, citing a mismatch in their enumeration forms. Shami, a resident of the Rashbehari constituency, could not attend the initial hearing as he is currently playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Rajkot. The reporter explains that while Shami is a native of Uttar Pradesh, he has been a long-time resident of Bengal. The hearing has been rescheduled to accommodate his cricket schedule.
