India is moving to strengthen its air and missile defences amid regional threats. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Israel could bring technology transfers, enabling a made-in-India Iron Dome system. This move signals deep strategic cooperation with Israel on security and defence innovation. India’s air defence systems demonstrated strong performance during Operation Sindhur, with Pakistani missiles failing to enter Indian airspace due to indigenously built Akash Teer and S-400 surface-to-air missile systems. Made-in-India Iron Domes would dramatically reduce the cost per engagement, prove effective against drone swarms and small UAV threats, and add a short-range layer to India’s existing defence systems. India is also looking at Israel’s advanced drones, long-range missiles and laser-based defence systems to integrate into its security infrastructure. The new agreements could significantly strengthen India’s air and missile defence capabilities while deepening strategic partnership with Israel.
