In a special address to the media in New Delhi, Russian President Vladimir Putin hailed the ‘constructive and friendly atmosphere’ of his talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Highlighting a 12% growth in bilateral trade to approximately $64 billion, Putin set a new target of $100 billion by 2030. He confirmed the launch of the Russian TV channel RT in India today and noted the ‘consonance’ of positions between the two nations on global issues. The President also detailed cooperation in the energy sector, specifically the Kudankulam nuclear plant, and announced a new pharmaceutical factory in Russia’s Kaluga region using Indian technology. Additionally, he referenced their recent meeting at the SCO summit in Tianjin and reaffirmed Russia’s support for India’s upcoming BRICS chairmanship.
