Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed a comprehensive government response to minimise the impact of the West Asia war on Indian citizens, emphasising zero tolerance for hoarding and black marketing. He has instructed a whole-of-government approach with all administrative arms working in coordination with industry, key sectors, and state governments to protect supplies and maintain stability. The government has indicated that long-term measures will be required as the conflict has intensified, particularly affecting oil and gas supply chains for South Asia and India. Nearly three dozen industrial sectors face shortages, with fertilizers and aviation being key areas of concern. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has already lifted price caps following disruptions. The government is prioritising alternative sources of fertilizers ahead of the Kharif season, whilst also addressing food security, power supply, small and medium enterprises, export shipments, and supply chain disruptions. Senior ministers including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, and Ram Mohan Naidu attended the Sunday review meeting to coordinate evacuation plans for stranded Indian citizens in the Middle East.
