Middle East War: Pakistan Eyes Mediator Role In Iran War | Army Chief Munir Speaks To Trump

Pakistan is positioning itself as a lead mediator in the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Reports indicate that Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir has spoken to American President Donald Trump about the Iran war, leveraging his ties to Tehran and relationship with Trump. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also held a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday. Senior Pakistani officials are reportedly conducting back-channel communications between Tehran and figures including Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and envoy. Pakistan has proposed Islamabad as a potential venue for a summit between senior Trump administration officials and Iranian representatives. Trump has ordered a five-day pause of all strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure. The report highlights Iran’s current power structure, noting that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has moved quickly to tighten control and become the backbone of decision-making, with the real power balance appearing to shift towards the armed forces.
