Fugitive diamond merchant Mehul Choksi has been arrested in Belgium on April 11th following a request from Indian authorities. Choksi is a key accused in the ₹13,000 crore Punjab National Bank fraud case. The Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate are seeking his extradition to India. Choksi had previously evaded arrest in Antigua and Dominica. India has an extradition treaty with Belgium, raising hopes for his return to face charges.
