The investigation reveals a sophisticated nexus where Hindu women were allegedly trapped at local gyms, forced to wear burqas for photographs, and subsequently blackmailed for money. Ashish Srivastava notes that ‘this is a big nexus which was running in Mirjapur’ involving foreign funding channeled through various NGOs. The police have arrested six individuals, including a GRP Constable named Irshad, who allegedly used his position to intimidate victims and prevent them from filing complaints. Another key accused, Fareed, was reportedly involved in distributing victim photos. Authorities have seized several luxury vehicles used by the gang to transport victims. While six accused are in custody, a manhunt continues for the remaining absconding members, including the suspected mastermind behind this elaborate conversion operation.
