In a strong message to the interim government in Dhaka, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has termed the ‘unremitting hostility against minorities’ in Bangladesh as a matter of grave concern. Citing independent sources, Jaiswal revealed that over 2,900 incidents of violence, including killings and land grabs, have occurred since August 2024. The statement follows the lynching of a Hindu youth, Dipu Chandra Das, in Mymensingh. Meanwhile, West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari warned of blocking permits for the Ganga Sagar Mela if atrocities continue. The report also highlights the chaos following student leader Sharif Osman Hadi’s death and criticizes Indian opposition leaders for drawing parallels between the situation in Bangladesh and India.
