The BJP has launched protests in Delhi and Bengal following an attack on its MP, Khagen Murmu, in West Bengal’s flood-hit Jalpaiguri district. The party claims the Trinamool Congress (TMC) orchestrated the attack, in which the MP was injured and his car was pelted with stones. The TMC denies this, alleging the BJP is politicizing the incident and that the attack was carried out by common people. Protests by the BJP’s tribal morcha are taking place at Banga Bhavan in Delhi. An FIR has been registered naming eight alleged attackers, who the BJP claims are TMC supporters. More than 24 hours after the incident, a speaker noted that no progress had been made in the investigation, stating, "it’s 24 hours have passed since the incident happened… but we can’t see any progress into the police investigation… not a single arrest have been made by the local police so far." The issue has escalated into a major political conflict concerning governance in West Bengal.
