Maratha Protest Paralyses Mumbai; High Court Orders Roads Cleared, Calls Agitation 'Not Peaceful'

The Maratha protest in Mumbai has intensified, with demonstrators blocking key roads in South Mumbai, causing the city to come to a standstill. Activist Manoj Jarange Patil is on an indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan, demanding reservation for the entire Maratha community, and has now threatened to give up water. The agitation, which has spilled beyond its designated area, prompted the Bombay High Court to intervene. The court stated the protest "was not peaceful and has violated all conditions" and ordered protesters to vacate all roads by Tuesday. The Maharashtra government, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, held a high-level meeting and has been directed by the court to take necessary action to restore normalcy.
