Five people, including a police officer, are dead after a shooting in a Midtown Manhattan building in New York City. The gunman was identified as 27-year-old Shane, a former athlete from Las Vegas with no criminal background. He entered the building near Rockefeller Center, which houses an NFL office, carrying an assault rifle. The motive for the shooting is not known. An off-duty police officer who tried to confront the gunman was among those killed. An official confirmed that “the shooter has been neutralized” and that a sweep of the building was being conducted. The gunman was ultimately shot dead by police following the attack.
