Incessant rainfall has caused severe flooding and devastation in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, particularly in the Old Manali area. Visuals from the ground show the destructive impact, with broken bridges and stranded vehicles. The Beas river is in full spate, washing out a temporary passage over a bridge that had collapsed on 26th August, and leaving a Tempo Traveller stuck in the deluge. A reporter at the site noted, "you can see how the Bias is gushing, how the Bias is in full spate and the entire area is inundated." Authorities are facing significant challenges in restoring connectivity to the region. As a precautionary measure, locals residing on the banks of the river, where cafes and houses are under threat and at least one has collapsed, have been evacuated to safer locations.
