Mamata Backs Multilingual Learning Amid NEP Debate | DMK Opposes 'language imposition' | India Today

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee endorsed learning multiple languages, stating she understands various Indian languages. This stance aligns with the central government’s three-language policy in the National Education Policy. However, it diverges from DMK’s opposition to the policy, with DMK spokesperson stating 99% of Tamil Nadu opposes a third language imposition. Mamata Banerjee said, ‘We understand languages from across the country. I understand Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Assamese, and Naga languages.’
