Mallikarjun Kharge Slams Government Over Social Justice And Women's Empowerment In Rajya Sabha

In a sharp critique during the Rajya Sabha session, Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of Opposition, addressed the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address. Kharge highlighted five critical areas: social justice, social ethics, attacks on democracy, economic problems, and the plight of farmers and labourers. He specifically challenged the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, stating, ‘The BJP has never made a woman its President,’ and questioned why the Women’s Reservation Act has not been implemented immediately. Kharge further accused the Modi government of weakening the fabric of social justice over the last eleven years and criticized the lack of a clear roadmap for the caste census. He noted that while the Congress party appointed Sarojini Naidu as President decades ago, the RSS has not entrusted a woman with leadership in its hundred-year history. The speech also touched upon rising atrocities against Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities.
