Mallikarjun Kharge Full Speech: BJP, RSS want to remove 'socialist' and 'secular' from Constitution

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, speaking at an event titled ‘Pathways and Perspective to August 2025’, accused the BJP and RSS of wanting to remove the words ‘socialist’ and ‘secular’ from the Constitution’s preamble. Kharge lauded Rahul Gandhi, stating that his efforts to protect the Constitution were instrumental in preventing the BJP from winning 400 seats in the 2024 elections. He criticized the government for what he termed a ‘dictatorship’, citing discrimination against minorities and Dalits in BJP-ruled states and alleging manipulation of voter lists. Kharge also raised serious concerns over the presence of CISF personnel in Parliament, viewing it as an attempt to intimidate opposition members. He asserted that while institutions like the judiciary and Election Commission are meant to be independent, they are being undermined. Kharge called on lawyers and citizens to unite to protect the country’s democratic values.
