In a tragic development, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others have been killed after their chartered Learjet crashed while attempting to land in Baramati. The flight, which took off from Mumbai at 8:10 AM, reportedly disappeared from the radar at 8:45 AM. According to the news bulletin, the pilots, identified as Sumit Kapoor and Sambhavi Pathak, cited poor visibility before the aircraft veered off course and exploded on the apron. ‘There are no survivors on this craft,’ confirmed the DGCA, marking the end of the search for the five individuals on board, including the Deputy CM’s PSO and staffer. The aircraft, operated by VSR Aviation, reportedly had a ‘dodgy flying history’ with a previous incident in 2023. Aviation experts are now questioning why the jet was cleared for VVIP movement despite past safety concerns. The DGCA has initiated a probe to determine if strict aviation safety parameters were followed during this ill-fated flight.
