The Mahagathbandhan, an opposition alliance in Bihar, is set to hold a mega protest against the ongoing electoral roll revision in the state. A statewide ‘Chakka Jam’ (road blockade) has been called for on July 9th. Opposition parties have raised concerns about the Election Commission’s revision process, claiming it could lead to the deletion of their voters’ names from the electoral list. A delegation of Mahagathbandhan leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav, met with the Election Commission in Patna to raise these issues. The alliance is demanding either a halt to the revision process or the inclusion of more documents for citizens to prove their voting rights in Bihar. The BJP and its allies are objecting to the manner in which the revision is being conducted.
