The Indian Navy has commissioned two advanced stealth frigates, INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri, in Visakhapatnam, marking a significant step in bolstering its maritime strength. The warships, part of the Project 17A class, were launched in the presence of the Raksha Mantri. The induction highlights India’s growing self-reliance in defence, as the frigates have been built with approximately 75% indigenous content and designed in-house by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau. One of the frigates, INS Udaygiri, is the 100th warship designed by the bureau. A speaker noted, "India is changing, India can make for itself and for the world too."
