French President Emmanuel Macron, during his visit to Mumbai for the India-France Innovation Forum, lauded India’s dominant role in global technology and culture. He highlighted that ‘India does not just participate to global innovation. India leads it’, citing the leadership of Indian-origin CEOs at global giants like Alphabet, Microsoft, IBM, and Adobe. Macron specifically noted that the CEO of the iconic French house Chanel, Leena Nair, hails from Kolhapur. The President emphasized that France is the clear partner for India’s innovative future, concluding his address with a spirited ‘Jai Ho’. Parallelly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined India’s vision to become a global AI powerhouse by 2047, anchored on sovereignty and inclusivity. The summit also showcased technological advancements, including an IBM-developed AI solution designed to detect UPI payment frauds within five milliseconds. Key bilateral outcomes included the inauguration of an H-125 helicopter assembly line in Karnataka and a joint venture for producing Hammer missiles, further cementing the ‘Special Global Strategic Partnership’ between the two nations.
