A gruesome murder case has emerged from Lucknow where 21-year-old Akshar Pratap Singh allegedly shot dead his father, Manoj Indra Singh, a liquor businessman, following an argument over pressure to clear the NEET medical entrance exam on the night of February 20. Police say the accused used a licensed rifle to kill his father at their Asiana residence. After the killing, the accused allegedly dismembered the body with a saw, dumped the hands and legs in a separate area, and stored the torso and head in a blue plastic drum inside the house. Investigators report the accused initially planned to dispose of the body in the Gomti river but failed due to its weight. The victim’s minor daughter reportedly witnessed the aftermath and was allegedly threatened and confined for days. Acid recovered from the house was allegedly used on the body to destroy evidence. The accused himself filed a missing person complaint for his father before being arrested and charged with murder and destruction of evidence.
