An India Today special investigation exposes a thriving black market for LPG cylinders in Delhi’s Haji Colony area, where cooking gas is being sold at highly inflated prices despite government claims of no fuel shortage. The undercover operation revealed cylinders stockpiled in narrow lanes near Jasola Vihar, with delivery personnel initially denying their availability. A domestic gas cylinder officially priced at Rs 913 was being sold by hoarders for Rs 1500, yielding a profit of Rs 587 per cylinder. The investigation, led by special correspondent Nitin Jain, captured hidden camera footage showing how black market operators exploit the supply crunch. The report also alleges that these profiteers siphon off gas from cylinders before sale. Long queues and uncertainty have become common as people struggle to access LPG cylinders through official channels in parts of the national capital.
