Panic over LPG supplies is spreading across India with long queues outside gas agencies and consumers rushing to book cylinders. The Centre says production has been stepped up, alternative fuels are being released and strict enforcement action is underway to prevent diversion of household LPG. Prime Minister Narendra Modi warns that some people are trying to create panic over LPG, pushing their own agenda and causing harm to the country. Authorities across several states have launched crackdowns on hoarders and black marketeers, seizing hundreds of cylinders. Ground reports show panic buying, local shortages and disruptions to businesses continuing across the country, with bakeries in Mumbai shutting down due to commercial LPG shortage and long queues reported from Delhi, Lucknow and Chandigarh.
