An India Today investigation highlights the LPG shortage affecting the country, prompting government action to restore supply chains disrupted by the West Asia war. Sources reveal the government is now procuring energy from 40 countries, expanding from the earlier 27, to meet India’s energy needs. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated that India is in touch with prospective countries to fulfill energy requirements as soon as possible. The Ministry of Petroleum issued an advisory to oil refineries to increase LPG production, resulting in a 10% jump in output within 24 hours. The government insists there is no need to panic and that domestic energy needs will be met through increased imports and production. Officials claim precautionary measures began in mid-January when the Middle East situation escalated, with continuous efforts to ensure uninterrupted supply.
