Panic over LPG supplies continues to grip parts of India with long queues outside gas agencies and a surge in cylinder bookings. The Petroleum Ministry insists there is no shortage, attributing the rush to panic buying. The government states that LPG production has been increased by 30 per cent and no supply centre has reported running dry. The ministry urges consumers to book cylinders online and wait for home delivery, warning that crowding distribution centres will not solve the problem. HPCL confirms domestic LPG supply remains adequate. Despite official assurances, ground reports show a different reality. In Chandigarh, a wedding is being cooked entirely on wood logs due to unavailability of LPG cylinders. Long queues are visible outside agencies in Delhi and other cities, with people waiting since early morning for cylinders.
