Retailers in Delhi NCR report a 200-300 percent surge in induction cooktop sales, with e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart witnessing over 300 percent sales jumps and several models going out of stock. In Chennai, all 60 Croma outlets have completely sold out of induction stoves and cookware. The crisis has erupted into a political flashpoint in Parliament, with Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accusing the government of compromising India’s foreign policy. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri issued an elaborate statement asserting that all is well and the government has everything under control, insisting there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, kerosene or fuel oil. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has questioned the Centre’s lack of planning to address the unfolding fuel crisis.
