LPG Crisis Row: DK Shivakumar Criticises Centre, Questions PM Modi’s ‘56-Inch Chest’ Remark

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has strongly criticised the central government over the ongoing LPG crisis, demanding that the issue be discussed in Parliament. Shivakumar stated, ‘It is duty of the central government to ensure the flow of fuel which is being affected.’ He accused the centre of showing a ‘dictator nature’ and said the government has committed ‘great injustice’ by leaving friendly nations alone. The Karnataka minister also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier claim of having a ’56-inch chest.’ Both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu governments, part of the India alliance, have raised concerns about LPG shortages. The Hotel Association has also reported a shortage of commercial gas cylinders, forcing some restaurants to shut down. The central government has invoked the Essential Services Act to prevent hoarding and prioritise domestic LPG supply.
