In a sharp attack on the Indian government from foreign soil, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi alleged a ‘full-scale assault’ on India’s institutional framework during an event in Berlin, Germany. Speaking about the fairness of recent polls, Gandhi claimed the Congress won the Haryana election and that the Maharashtra election was unfair, citing alleged voter list irregularities where a ‘Brazilian woman’ appeared ’22 times’. He asserted that India’s electoral machinery is compromised and that the opposition is fighting a ‘clash between two visions of India’. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by National President JP Nadda, countered the allegations, accusing Gandhi of indulging in a ‘Bharat Badnaam Yatra’ and undermining the country’s democracy and Constitution abroad.
