As the race to elect the next Vice President of India intensifies following Jagdeep Dhankhar’s sudden resignation, political activity in the capital has intensified. Both the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Opposition’s INDIS bloc are preparing for what could be a defining contest ahead of the next round of state and national polls.
Meanwhile, on August 18-19, Chinese FM Wang Yi is to visit India. The big visit comes ahead of PM Modi’s SCO visit. The meet is expected to be around India-China border talks amid U.S tariff war.
On the other side, after an inconclusive meeting in Alaska’s Anchorage. Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended an invitation to US President Trump to Moscow. If Trump were to accept Putin’s invitation, he would be the first American President to set foot on Russian soil since 2013, and the first time to visit Moscow since 2009.
