Shouting and angry allegations followed Rahul Gandhi’s maiden speech as the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha today. Mr Gandhi attacked the BJP, claiming the BJP is not a representative of the entire Hindu community. Home Minister Amit Shah took strong objection to the comments, questioning the speaker if parliamentary rules don’t apply to the opposition. He also invoked the 1984 riots and demanded an answer from the Congress Party. Mr Gandhi went on with his speech after this, claiming BJP leaders do not even greet the opposition in fear of PM Modi. “He not only threatened the people of Ayodhya, but even his party members.”
PM Modi said claiming that Hindus are violent is a very irresponsible statement by Mr Gandhi, to which Rahul Gandhi said, “No, I am only saying this about BJP. BJP is not Hindu samaj”.
