The Lok Sabha has admitted a motion for the removal of the Speaker of the House under Article 94 of the Constitution and Rule 200 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business. The motion was moved by Member of Parliament Javed, who cited charges including disallowing the Leader of the Opposition and other opposition leaders to speak, making unwarranted allegations against women MPs, suspending opposition MPs for an entire session, and not rebuking ruling party members for objectionable remarks against former Prime Ministers. The motion alleges the Speaker has ceased to maintain an impartial attitude and has adopted a partisan stance. Over 50 members stood in favour of allowing the motion to be presented. A 10-hour debate has been scheduled on the resolution. The Deputy Speaker presiding mentioned that the Speaker has not occupied the chair since the notice was received, citing a high moral ground, and emphasised the need for immediate discussion and resolution of the matter.
