Home Minister Amit Shah said that when the Election Commission, its powers, the election process, and the rules for creating and updating voter lists were decided, their party did not even exist.
He explained:
Article 325: No eligible voter can be removed from the voter list.
Article 326: The first requirement to be included in the voter list is that the person must be an Indian citizen.
Article 326 also defines three basic conditions for adding a voter’s name to the list.
He said this while replying to a discussion on election reforms.
