The Parliament is set to debate the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address on Friday. BJP leader and former Union minister Anurag Thakur will move the motion in the Lok Sabha, while BJP’s Sudhanshu Trivedi will move it in the Rajya Sabha. The debate is likely to see sharp exchanges between the treasury and opposition benches in both houses. President Draupadi Murmu addressed the Parliament on Friday, describing the Emergency as the "biggest and darkest" chapter of a direct attack on the Constitution. She also stated that the government is fully committed to investigating the recent incidents of paper leaks and ensuring that the guilty are punished. Opposition members can give notices of amendments to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address, which are usually negated by a voice vote at the end of the debate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to respond to the debate on July 2 in the Lok Sabha and on July 3 in the Rajya Sabha
