n Minneapolis, an active shooter allegedly fired indiscriminately at Annunciation Catholic School and Church, leaving at least 17 injured and 2 dead. The incident, which occurred just after 8:30 am local time on Wednesday, has led to a panic like situation in the area. According to local media reports, first responders and the law enforcement agencies swarmed the area surrounding the church, located at 509 W 54th Street, after reports of an armed suspect opening fire with a rifle. The suspect’s current status remains unknown. As per reports, the victims have been shifted to various hospitals for treatment, and 4 of them are reported to be critical.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has confirmed the shooting, stating, "I’ve been briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and will continue to provide updates as we get more information." In a heartfelt message, Governor Walz added, "I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence." Mayor Jacob Frey is closely monitoring the situation, saying, "I’m monitoring reports of horrific violence in South Minneapolis." He assured the public that he is in touch with Police Chief O’Hara and that the emergency response team has been activated. "We will share more information as soon as we can. Please give our officers the space they need to respond to the situation," Mayor Frey urged.
