LIVE This Morning: Thailand And Combodia Agrees To Immediate And Conditional Ceasefire
After five days of intense border clashes that claimed dozens of lives and displaced hundreds of thousands, Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an "immediate and unconditional" ceasefire, effective midnight on Monday, July 28, 2025. The breakthrough agreement was announced by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who mediated the crucial talks in Putrajaya between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thailand’s acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai.
The ceasefire marks a significant de-escalation in the deadliest border conflict between the two Southeast Asian nations in over a decade. The recent flare-up, which began on July 24, saw both sides deploy heavy artillery and engage in fierce exchanges of fire, causing widespread destruction and a humanitarian crisis along their shared 817-kilometer (508-mile) frontier.
