The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice to Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, requesting details of his Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number. This action followed Yadav’s allegation on August 2, 2025, that his name was missing from Bihar’s draft electoral roll, published on August 1, 2025. The ECI refuted his claim as “baseless” on August 2, providing an extract of the draft roll that included Yadav’s name. However, a discrepancy emerged as the EPIC number Yadav claimed to have used in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, RAB2916120, did not match the EPIC number listed in the ECI’s draft roll, RAB0456228, leading to ongoing confusion.
