LIVE This Morning: Drug Syndicate Busted In Delhi, 2 Foreign Nationals Arrested

In southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area, two foreign nationals, Bernadin, a 39-year-old from Ivory Coast, and Ezekiel, a 33-year-old from Nigeria, were arrested on Friday for their alleged involvement in smuggling narcotic substances. The Delhi Police’s southeast anti-narcotics squad, acting on a confidential tip-off, conducted a raid on July 31 under the leadership of Inspector Vishnu Dutt Tiwari and supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Dalip Singh. The operation led to the apprehension of the duo in Lane Number 13, Govindpuri, where they were allegedly delivering 61.16 grams of MDMA (ecstasy) and 36.64 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh. The police recovered eight mobile phones and Rs 10,600 in cash from the suspects.During interrogation, it was revealed that both individuals were jobless and overstaying in India, with Bernadin having remained in the country illegally since 2019. To meet their financial needs, they reportedly turned to drug trafficking. Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemant Tiwari confirmed that neither had prior involvement in such cases. A case was registered at Govindpuri police station under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act. The investigation is now focused on uncovering the broader drug syndicate network. This arrest follows other recent incidents in southeast Delhi, including the arrest of six individuals, including two Nigerian nationals, in Lajpat Nagar last month for selling forged lottery tickets, and the dismantling of an international drug cartel in April with the arrest of two foreigners—one Nigerian and one Ugandan—along with the seizure of drugs worth over Rs 1 crore.
