LIVE This Morning: Air Ambulance With 7 Onboard Crashes In Jharkhand After Losing Contact With ATC
A devastating crash involving an air ambulance in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on Monday evening resulted in the deaths of all seven people on board. The incident occurred near Simaria soon after takeoff from Ranchi airport at 7:11 pm, as the flight was en route to Delhi.
Chatra Deputy Commissioner Keerthishree G confirmed the fatalities, noting the aircraft vanished around 7:30 pm and plummeted in the Bariatu Panchayat area of Simaria. She attributed the crash to a probable thunderstorm.
SDPO Shubham Khandelwal reported that all victims have been recovered and identified: Captain Vivek Vikas Bhagat, Captain Savrajdeep Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Vikas Kumar Gupta, Sachin Kumar Mishra, Archana Devi, and Dhuru Kumar. The plane was operated by Delhi-based Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, a non-scheduled carrier with six aircraft listed under DGCA records.
Devkamal Hospital CEO Anant Sinha revealed the air ambulance was booked for patient Sanjay Kumar (41), from Chandwa in Latehar district, who suffered 65% burns on February 16 and needed advanced care in Delhi. He departed the hospital around 4:30 pm.
