London’s UK High Court has dismissed fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi’s latest plea to halt his extradition to India, paving the way for his return to face justice in the ₹13,000 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case. Modi, arrested in 2019 and jailed in the UK since, argued for reopening his case based on fears of ill-treatment and poor prison conditions in India, invoking the Bhandari judgment. But the court found his claims fell short of the "exceptional circumstances" needed. India’s long pursuit since 2018 edges closer to success.
