Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched two flagship initiatives aimed at transforming India’s agricultural landscape: PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses. The cabinet-approved PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana will operate over six years starting 2025‑26, targeting 100 districts by converging 36 existing schemes to boost productivity, expand irrigation, improve post‑harvest infrastructure, and support farmers with credit and technology.
Meanwhile, the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses has been approved with an ₹11,440 crore outlay from 2025‑26 to 2030‑31, aiming to increase pulse production to 350 lakh tonnes, strengthen seed systems, ensure guaranteed procurement of key pulses (Tur, Urad, Masoor), and reduce import dependency. These steps reflect the government’s push toward agrarian self‑reliance and more resilient food security.
