The Pakistan Army on Wednesday announced that all 33 Baloch insurgents, which hijacked a passenger train carrying over 400 passengers in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province on Tuesday, were killed. During the hours-long operation, 21 passengers died and four Pakistani Army personnel were killed. The Balochistan Liberation Army stopped the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express after blowing up a track in a tunnel, around 160 km from Quetta, from where the train had departed. The outfit, which seeks Balochistan’s independence from Pakistan, gave a 48-hour deadline to release all political prisoners in exchange for prisoner swap and threatened of dire consequences.
