At the Quad Summit in Washington DC, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reiterated India’s right to defend itself against terrorism. He emphasized that the world must display zero tolerance towards terrorism and that victims and perpetrators should never be equated. Jaishankar stated that India expects its Quad partners to understand and appreciate its position on dealing with terrorism. The statement comes a day after the Pakistani Army Chief attempted to justify terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir as a legitimate struggle. In a related development, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a phone call with his US counterpart, discussing deepening defence ties and appreciating US support in India’s fight against terrorism.
