US President Joe Biden on Sunday said that the assassination attempt on his predecessor, Donald Trump, is contrary to everything that the country stands for.
"There is no place in America for this kind of violence or any violence for that matter. An assassination attempt is contrary to everything we stand for … as a nation – everything," he said while addressing a press conference in Washington.
Biden delivered brief remarks from the White House after receiving a briefing on the investigation by the security agencies. He said he has directed the probe to be “thorough and swift,” and asked the country not to “make assumptions” about the perpetrator’s motives or affiliations.
